When it comes to SEO, it is about following a right
strategy. SEO is the most expensive way to bring new visitors to your website.
However, Google has no secret method to rank number one. However, you can
achieve great results by applying the best SEO practices and dramatically
improve your website's organic rankings.
In this blog, you will find 17 resources and tips, which
will help increase your website to a new level.
Tip 1: Write only high-quality content
No matter what niche your website is, when you start writing
an article, always provide helpful and actionable guidance. If you are giving
users the information they want, then your content can be as long as you need.
However, note that articles now rank higher in Google.
To write the best article about a specific topic, do your
research and check which articles are already ranked higher in Google for your
keywords. You need to find posts that have proven successful on social media as
well as attract backlinks.
Take a look at the top 10 results and improve the content
already existing. For example, if you are trying to write an article about
breeds of small dogs, then you can make a detailed post, which is entitled to
know everything about small dogs' breeds. You can make your article a little
better than everything else already on the Web and you will have high chances
to rank on the first page in Google.
Tip 2. Keyword Research
Never start writing articles without keyword research. The
best tool to use is the free Google Keyword Tool. Click the 'Keyword for new
keyword and ad group ideas' and enter the main keywords you want to target.
Then you'll find a list with keyword suggestions based on the suggestions users
are getting on Google.
Another way people are searching for is to type your main
keywords in Google, and check suggestions based on the most popular searches.
Finally, if you scroll down to the bottom of Google's page,
then you can see some more search related queries.
Focus on keywords that have a high search volume, but do not
ignore long-tailed keywords. If properly optimized, you can get more traffic
from keywords with less search volume.
Keep in mind that you have to write for your readers, not
Google's spiders. Do not stuff keywords.
Tip 3. Use unique title and Meta descriptions
Meta descriptors do not take as much value as they used, but
they still have an important role to play for SEO. Each of your posts should
have a unique title and Meta description. Make sure all are unique and you do
not have any duplicates.
Tip 4. Highlight your data with Google Webmaster Tools
By lighting up on your website, you help Google better
understand your site's data. Data Highlighter allows you to highlight parts of
your website through Google Webmaster Tools, without any code changes. This
will help you display ratings, prices, reviews with your rich snippets in
organic results. Even further, it will increase your chances of getting Google
Knowledge Card featuring your website's specialty. So if your website includes
listings, reviews, or events, here's how to show your results in Google like
this:
Go to Google Webmaster Tools and click on 'Search
Appearance' and then 'Data Highlighter'.
Click 'Start Highlighting'. You will be asked to choose what
type of data you want to highlight. If you have a simple content blog, then
select the article. If not, choose which category is most suitable for your
website.
Once on the Highlighter page, click and drag your mouse over
the title of your website and select 'Title'. Do the same for your rating,
author, date published, image etc. Google will ask you to repeat the process
some time until they will not understand that your website is following. Once
finished, click 'done' and click on it. When Google crawls your site again,
they will better recognize your data structure.
Tip 5. Use Sitemap
Having a sitemap for your website plays an important role in
SEO. This helps Google easily crawl your pages and index your website. If you
have a Wordpress website, you can generate a Sitemap of your website using a
plugin. Some of the most popular are:
- XML Sitemaps and Google News Feeds
- Google xml sitemap
If you are using custom CMS, you can use the XML Sitemap
Generator to create a Sitemap and then upload it to your website.
After creating your Sitemap, you will need to run on Google
Webmaster Tools and click on crawl-sitemap from right side menu. Here you can
submit your Sitemap to Google.
Tip 6. Avoid 404 Errors on Your Website
With some 404 errors, your rankings will not be completely
wasted, but they can reduce your user experience, which can ultimately affect
your SEO performance. There are many WordPress plugins that can help you find
404 pages on your website. My favorite one is called Permalink Finder. This
plugin detects when a user lands on a 404 page on your website. It
automatically searches through your database and tries to redirect the user to
the page in which the user is searching.
At the bottom of the settings page, you can see a list of
all the pages that gave 404 errors to your users.
Do not use WordPress? You can then use the Google Chrome
extension which is called Check My Links. Install extensions and use it when
you want to see broken links on your website.
Tip 7. Promote Your Website through Guest Blogging
The benefits of guest blogging are endless and often low. By
tapping into established communities already, you can increase your reputation,
build high-quality backlinks, get more risks on your website, and more.
To automate the guest blogging research process, you can
make use of social media, Twitter more precise. I advise you to use topci,
which can send email alerts when posted, to Twitter. For example, to receive an
email alert, when someone on Twitter mentions a keyword like 'guest sito guest
blog,' click on the settings icon and then on 'Receive email email alerts'.
Filter results and write guest articles only for eligible
websites. Do not waste time on doing this on low-quality sites and do not do it
to get the link. Try to provide value to readers, and in return you will get a
lot.
Tip 8. Use the best works for your competitors
If you have already read my article, you already know that I
enjoy having my competitors spying on social media and everywhere. That's
because you can learn a lot from the techniques that work best for them.
Think about this for a second. If you can get around 50% of
the websites that are connecting with your competitors, to link to your
website, then it means that you can easily remove them, right? Of course,
having all the top links of all your main competitors, you can easily get
profit ahead of them. Sounds easy, but how do you do this.
By spying, obviously. You have to be up-to-date with all
those backlinks that they are making or earning, and try to repeat them. For
this, you can use one of my favorite SEO tools, which is called Monitor
Backlink. After adding your account to Google Analytics and adding your
competitors, you get a list with all the websites that are linking to them. The
feature which seems most useful to me is that it compares your link to your
competitor, and highlighted with the green color you have.
I have three of the eight best links of my competitors
already, which means that I only have to focus on finding a way to get links
from other websites.
More than that, Monitor Backlinks sends you an email report
with all the links your contestants have earned. This makes all work very easy.
Tip 9. Keep an eye on your backlinks
Keeping an eye on your backlink is as important as making
them Because SEO depends on the quality of backlinks your website receives. The
more high quality links you have, the higher you are in Google. Building
backlinks is not enough. You also have to monitor every link your website is making.
It does not know who links to you or when the link is being removed, you can
get a lot of traffic. After all, no one would want to be a victim of negative
SEO.
To keep the record of your links easy, you can use the
monitor backlink again. This allows you to add a tag to your website's link
when your website earns a new link or receives an email alert when an old one
is being removed.
Tip 10. Speed up your website
The loading speed of your website is one of the most
important ranking factors in Google. Nobody likes a slow website, and neither
Google. Studies show that a visitor hopes to load the website in 2 seconds. If
it takes more than 4 seconds, users usually lose patience, and with the second
delay, the possibility of clicking on the back button is increasing.
To find tips on how to speed up your website, you can use
the Google PageSpeed Insights Tool or Pingdom Tool.
If you want to speed up your website, then customizing your
images is one of the first things. Do not use images at any time to display on
your post any time you need to display it on your post.
The slower your website is, the bots of Google will be as
complicated as crawling your pages.
Tip 11. Use smart URL for your post
Your URLs should include your main keywords, but make sure
you keep them small and friendly. Try to limit the number of characters as
possible. For example, you can leave adverb adjectives with your URL. Use
hyphen instead of underscore and try to maintain a consistency.
Tip 12. Remove duplicate content from your website
Duplicate content is the biggest enemy of your website.
Google is very serious about punishing websites with duplicate content,
description or title. Use tools like CopyScape or Google Webmaster Tools to
find out if there's a problem with duplicate content on your website.
Tip 13. Add Content Constantly
Websites with fresh content added on regular basis are given
more rights, and are highly ranked in search results. The latest content tells
Google that you are maintaining your website.
Tip 14. Build a strong internal linking system
When writing a new post, always link to the previous
relevant articles you wrote. Which will help your users spend more time
visiting other useful articles on your website. A better average time on your
website gives a lower bounce rate and more user experience. Navigate through
your website as soon as possible.
Tip 15. Optimize Your Images
All images published on your website should have a relevant
name. Use ALT attributes, descriptions and captions for your images.
Tip 16. Do not build backlinks on your homepage only.
The most frequent mistake are marketers. When creating
backlinks on your website, you have to make everything as natural as possible.
It is normal that there are most links to the website's homepage However, if
the website does not have anything other than to link to the main page, it can
flag Google. For this reason, you should also build backlinks on your other
pages.
Tip 17. Do not advertise or link paid for SEO
If you want to promote your website by buying sponsored
links, always use the nofollow attribute. there's no other way. If Google finds
you have paid webmasters to make backlinks, then you will work hard to remove
the penalty. Here, Matt Cutt takes over the advertisement.
Conclusion
These are the best SEO practices that can help you increase
your organic traffic. Keep in mind that SEO never returns results overnight. If
done at the right time, you will get a lot of benefit.
